Kim Weeden (Stanford PhD, 1999) is Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Sociology. She is interested in gender inequality in labor markets. Much of her work looks at patterns and historical trends in the distribution of men and women across different types of occupations (i.e., “occupational sex segregation”). She has also studied the impact of “family friendly” work arrangements (e.g., flextime, telecommuting) on later career outcomes of men and women. She is an expert in the quantitative analysis of large-scale survey data, and hence offers a nice complement to Dr. Thomas-Hunt’s expertise in experimental methods and related designs for studying small groups.
